Guidelines |
|
► Submissions should be no more than 7500 words.
► We encourage submissions from those in the Bi and Trans communities
► Submissions may be by hard copy or email attachment.
~If you submit your work by email, include it as an attachment in MS Word document format, with the initial of your first name followed by your full last name and the story title in the file name: Initial-Surname-Title.doc. For example, JSmith-AlabamaDays.doc. Your name, contact information (email and mailing address), as well as the title of your work should appear on each page of the work. Please include contact details and bio in the Word document file, not just in your email as submissions will be separated from the emails. Submit to: submissions@comingoutinthesouth.com. Please tell us how you found out about the project!
~For hard copy, two (2) copies required. Hardcopy submissions should be sent to the P.O. BOX listed on this website. If accepted, an electronic copy will be requested. Send two (2) copies of all work. Include a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) or email address for reply. Essays will not be returned.
► Please do not write or email to request the status of your submission. Notification of acceptances and rejections will be provided, once decisions are made – all who submit will receive a reply.
► Include a brief cover letter with all contact information and a bio of up to 100 words.
► We prefer new work, but previously published work will be considered on a case by case basis. Be sure to inform us with your submission if the work has been previously published as copyright issues may need to be addressed.
► Authors included in the final work will receive a complimentary copy of the book upon publication. Additionally, the editors consider this a group effort and will split a portion of the net profits, if any, of the project with those authors whose work appears in the book, in a one-time distribution to be determined by them six months after publication. In the interest of full disclosure, it should be noted that the publication of this work is not guaranteed and depends on many variables, including the quality and quantity of submissions received.
► We reserve the right to make minor changes for stylistic, grammatical, and punctuation purposes, while retaining the original meaning of the story.
► Please forward, circulate internationally, and repost this call to anyone you think might be interested. Anyone with a story to share is encouraged to do so.
► If a selected author prefers to remain anonymous in print, the publishers will respect that wish, but the publishers need all author's names and a contact address for correspondence.
